Our story · How GMI came to be
From a Python script
to a platform every investor can use.
Five years ago this was a tool for one. Today it's the analytical depth a hedge-fund junior analyst
gets, available to anyone with thirty cents and a portfolio.

The spark
It started with pyeasy.
About five years ago, our founder Allan Edwards wrote a Python program he called
pyeasy. It pulled financial statements, computed ratios, ran trend analysis, and
spat out an Excel workbook for whatever stocks he was researching. It was a powerful script.
It was also a tool for exactly one person.

The vision
What if every investor had this?
Sitting on the analytical depth of pyeasy while watching friends and family fly blind
into the market, Allan realized: the platforms that exist at this depth cost institutions
$24,000 a year per seat. The platforms that everyday investors actually use stop at quotes and
headlines. Nothing in between.
The vision was simple: take the rigor of an institutional research desk, wrap it in a
workflow a normal human can use in fifteen minutes, charge per use instead of by subscription.

The build
Six months. Two hundred thousand lines.
GMI was rebuilt from the ground up as a cloud-native platform. .NET 10 on Azure for the
backend. Blazor WebAssembly for the web client. .NET MAUI for the mobile apps. ML.NET for the
forecasting engine. Anthropic's Claude wired in for the natural-language layer. Stripe for
billing. MySQL for state. Pulumi for infrastructure.
One engineer. Six months. About 222,000 lines of production code across four applications.
Shipped to production in April 2026.

The mission
For the everyday investor.
We built this for you — the retail investor, the do-it-yourself enthusiast, the engineer who
wants to actually understand what they own. The mission is to level the playing field:
the same analytical depth a junior hedge-fund analyst applies, without the cost, the
certification, or the noise.
A platform for everyone who's tired of choosing between $24,000/year and "watch the news."
