About · Built by an investor, for investors

One engineer.
One platform built to give retail investors what institutions take for granted.

Grade My Investments was designed, built, and shipped by a single solutions architect who got tired of paying $24,000 a year for Bloomberg or settling for the next-best free thing.

Thirty years in enterprise software. Cloud architecture, distributed systems, and financial technology. Active investor.

Allan designed, built, and deployed every part of GMI — the ML.NET forecasting engine, the Claude integration, the .NET Azure backend, the Blazor web client, the MAUI mobile app, the billing pipeline, the security model. One developer, six months, two hundred thousand lines of code.

He built GMI for one reason: the platforms that existed weren't good enough. Bloomberg is $24,000 a year and assumes you have an analyst on staff. Yahoo Finance is free and shows you nothing. Seeking Alpha is full of opinion essays — some great, most not. Every retail tool is either too expensive, too shallow, or too noisy.

The thesis: a retail investor with a 401k, a brokerage account, and thirty minutes a week should be able to apply the same analytical rigor a junior analyst at a hedge fund applies — without the cost, the certification, or the gatekeeping.

Who specifically — nine investor types GMI was built around →

From a Python script on a MacBook
to a production SaaS.

It started as a few Python scripts called PyEasy. A simple question: "Can I build a tool that tells me which stocks in my portfolio are fundamentally strong, and which ones are showing cracks?"

The answer was yes — but answering it well required real data plumbing, machine learning, AI integration, a mobile app, billing, security, and a dashboard a normal human could use. So that's what got built.

Today GMI is a complete analytics platform combining live financial data, ML.NET forecasting, Claude AI for natural-language follow-up, Excel and DOCX export, and a pay-per-use pricing model that means you only pay when you actually run something. Built in six months. Shipped to production in April 2026. Maintained as a serious product, not a side project.

What we believe

Four principles, written down so we have to keep them.

i.

Data over opinions.

Investment decisions should be backed by real financial data and ML analysis — not hot takes, not headlines, not consensus.

ii.

Long-term over momentum.

We help you find great companies and understand them. We're not a day-trading tool and don't pretend to be.

iii.

Transparency over magic.

Every metric, every model output, every data point is visible. No black boxes. Show your work.

iv.

Pay-per-use over subscription.

You only pay when you run something. No monthly fees, no contracts, no auto-renewal you have to remember to cancel.
